Ne-Na contemporary Artspace

Ne-Na Contemporary Art Space is an artist-run residency program in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. The program gives artists the opportunity to develop and expand their work and engage in intercultural exchange amidst a supportive network of local and international artists. Ne’-Na invites and welcomes artists to learn about the traditional northern Thai (Lanna) culture, and to explore possibilities in sustainable, self-sufficient living. Monfai Lanna weddings are a very special affair drawing on the customs and tradition of the Lanna Kingdom. Traditional ceremonies, dressing up in Lanna clothes and the Kantok market give every wedding that sepcial something.

Lanna fashion spans 8oo years drawing inspiration from its 5 provinces as well as influences from Burma and China.
Monfai prides itself to have the largest Lanna costume department in Thailand. Whether from the country or the Royal Palace our clothes are authentic and will give the wearer that special feel of an era gone by.
Monfai can dress up 1000 people from children and adults. The clothes are always a fun addition to any event.

Kantok market is the traditional Lanna style cuisine with many small dishes making up a most delicious banquett.

Monfai is dedicated to teach the arts and craft as well as customs of the lanna culture to the next generation. Monfai is proud to be hosting a number of international schools and organisations as well as Thai schools to teach students about the Lanna culture. Students get immersed into the culture by dressing in traditional clothes enjoying Kantoke market food and learn the arts and craft of Lanna.
It is always a funfilled day that leaves a smile on the faces of the students.

Over the last 25 years Arjan Rampad Kothkaew designed and buld many museums in Thailand. Many museums either dedicated to Abbots or museums celebrating and sharing the culture of a particular region where created with the direct support and influence of Arjan Rampad. In fact Monfai itself can be seen as a Living Museum. It incorporates the architecture of 5 regions that make up the Lanna kingdom. Monfai is build from mostly salvaged timber and will take you back 200 years.

Monfai has been invited many times to stage major events taking the Lanna hospitality and kantoke market to many places. From Seacon Square, Bangkok to the Mathematic Olympiad staged in Chiang Mai, the Monfai staff transforms every space into a magical market. By sharing Lanna, the culture of the North stays alive.

At Monfai we offer a state of the art conference facility that offers room for up to 150 participants. Overhead projector and free wi-fi as well as delicious Lanna lunch make this a unique venue, giving participants a change from the more ordinary conference facilities.
